BECOMING A MENTOR FOR THE COMMUNITY
For most members of The Outperformer, you have a unique set of skills and experience that has made you successful and taught you lessons along the way. Other members of the community will value this at different stages of their career, particularly if they are embarking on a similar journey to you, or will want to get some perspective before they do.
In the same way that you value the support of others, you can use The Outperformer platform to help others achieve their goals. At times, this will be a case of listening and sharing feedback, and in other situations it will be helping someone solve a career or job-based problem. Whatever it is, playing the role of mentor is highly rewarding and extremely valuable to your mentee.
Here is what to do:
- Go to Profile and nominate yourself as "Available Mentor"
- Complete your full profile so others are able to search for you by level of seniority, expertise, industry and business knowledge.
- Allow others to approach you on the platform. You can take your conversation into a one-to-one environment and even trade details so you can meet offline.
- Make sure there is a "fit" and you are able to help the other person. It is simply a case of asking what help they are looking for from you, and what they are trying to achieve in their career.
- Share support and suggestions to their problems. Remember, each member is in control of their own career and decisions, so what you are sharing is your thoughts based on your own experience, not the decision they need to make.
Can I be a Mentor and a Mentee at the same time?
Of course! The Outperformer has been designed to help you engage with like-minded, ambitious and supportive people from all over the world. In the same way that you are willing to help others, there are other professionals willing to help you.
